If you want a school that allows kids to bully others then enroll them in Rocori. This is a school that had one of the most infamous shootings in our state and yet there is still no anti-bullying campaign in place, and all the staff including the superintendent have done little to nothing when we as parents state that our child is being bullied or harassed. They erect a monument for the tragedy and then forget it ever happened, and it is well known that the child who committed that crime went to several staff members for help before he decided to bring a gun to the school to avenge himself because he felt he had no other option. When we brought it to the attention of the vice principal (Andrew Nelson) that our son was being bullied he agreed that maybe home schooling is a good option, as opposed to dealing with this very serious situation head on to solve the problem and make sure that no child in that school feels that they have to go elsewhere. All that will happen at this school with no anti bullying campaign in place is that history will repeat itself with another student involved shooting, and then what will they do? Add another pillar to the forgotten monument and move on? Because that is what there actions have shown me thus far and it makes me sick to my stomach; maybe they can explain why such a small town had such an infamous shooting occur as opposed to a town 10 times the population? My answer is because nothing is done to protect children there from being harassed or bullied, and if they cared at all about the past then there would be anti bullying campaigns in place, along with a very strict and stern policy that punishes these bullies with severe consequences up to and including expulsion. Now its time for parents to stand up against this school and its staff by contacting newspapers, signing petitions, and doing whatever is necessary within legal boundaries to make sure that positive changes are made, and if they are not then staff members including principals and the superintendent are held accountable for not doing they're job properly. Also, if your a parent of a bully, or your child is not bullied or harassed this message still applies to you; because, bullets have no names and when these horrific school shootings happen that stem from this bullying your child could also be in danger, so my advice is to band together as parents and notify any staff member of Rocori who will listen that an anti-bullying campaign should have been in place years ago so no child has to worry about going to that school in fear for any reason. As I stated previously, this school is so infamous for a school shooting they erected a monument but did nothing to attack the root of the problem, and I don't know of any other school in this state with a monument like that and continues to offer no outlet to curb such a serious problem.
Anyone who says this school sucks is just a bitter drop, problem child or student from a rival school. This is one of the best high schools in central Minnesota.
